Kentucky ex-principal accused of child pornography still awaits sentencing

This Thursday, U.S. District Court Judge delayed Louisville former high school principal’s sentencing in child porn case. Stephen Kyle Goodlett, 37, pleaded guilty to federal charges of transporting and possessing child pornography months ago and currently faces 63 state counts of child porn. While being a respected community leader for a long time in Kentucky, Goodlett secretly had access to the confiscated phones of female teens and traded their nude photos by sharing online on the internet, investigator.

According to court records, Goodlett engaged in child pornography from 2005 until his arrest in 2016. He possessed and uploaded teenage nude images online during his teaching career at Elizabethtown High School and later at LaRue County High School as a principal.

Goodlett’s illegal activity was stopped, after a former student of LaRue County High School found her naked photos, taken specifically for her boyfriend years ago, on a pornography website located in Russia. The local police asked for federal help for further investigation. As a result of investigation, 436 images and 11 videos of child pornography were found in addition to the initial police review.

As stated by Goodlett’s attorney, his client had an addiction to pornography. He also added, “Kyle is a broken man. He is also a sick man. There is no other viable explanation for the behavior that he engaged in… He knows he has betrayed the trust of his community, his students, his colleagues and his family.”

The date of Goodlett’s sentencing was reset for January 11.
