The entire state of Florida mourns the death of seventeen students who were killed in a mass shooting at a Broward County high school. The shooting took place at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School around dismissal time on Wednesday.
Two students were killed and seventeen injured in the shooting at Marshall County High School in Benton, a small city in western Kentucky. The Kentucky Board of Education confirmed that the victims were high school students. A 15 year-old-girl died at the scene and a boy, of the same age, died later at the hospital because he was shot in the head. Five of the wounded students were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
26 people were shot to death and 20 others were wounded Sunday, after a Texas gunman entered a baptist church in Sutherland Springs and opened fire, as reported by authorities. Since Sutherland Springs is a small town, the bloodshed killed nearly 4% of the town’s population, about half of them being children. 8 members from one family, the local pastor’s 17-year-old daughter, as well as the visiting pastor were also among those dead in the church shooting. The Texas governor Greg Abbott described the massacre as the largest mass shooting in the history of Texas.
47 year old Scott Ostrem was arrested near his home Thursday, November 2. He is a suspect in the death of three people at the Thornton, Colorado Walmart. Witnesses reported that Ostrem walked through the Walmart about 6:10 PM MST Wednesday, November 1 with a handgun, firing at people at the checkouts at the front of the store. People fled, and some shoppers in the store drew their own weapons in response. Two people died at the scene, and a woman died later at a local hospital. Ostrem was described as “nonchalant” while he was shooting at people.
An FBI report last week indicated an unnamed man went to the Newtown, Connecticut police four years before the shooting at Sandy Hook elementary school in which 20 children and 6 adults were killed. The anonymous man reported that Adam Lanza had a firearm, had talked about killing his mother Nancy, and killing children at the Sandy Hook elementary school where she worked. The NPD advised the informant that they could not take any action as the guns were owned by Nancy Lanza.
Three people were confirmed dead after an adult man entered the Thornton Walmart, Colorado, on Wednesday night and “nonchalantly” opened fire. Authorities say two men were shot to death on scene, while a woman died later in the hospital. As for the suspect, he is currently at large. The gunman was last seen fleeing in a red car following the bloody shooting. After checking the security camera footage and interviewing the witnesses, police described the suspect wearing a black jacket, maroon shirt, and blue jeans. People are kindly advised to stay away from the area.
1,500 documents were released by the FBI on Tuesday, revealing the dark sides of Adam Lanza - author of one of the deadliest school shootings in the US. Adam Lanza, a 20-year-old young man, who had earlier killed his mother, attacked the Sandy Hook elementary school on Dec. 14, 2012, in Newtown, Connecticut, shooting 20 children and 6 adults to death. Then he took his own life right after the killings.
On Sunday, October 1, 2017, at 10:08 PM PST, Stephen Paddock allegedly opened fire with automatic weapons into a crowd of about 40,000 people attending the Route 91 Harvest festival, listening to country music star Jason Aldean. 58 people were shot to death, and 516 were injured. The 59th death was the alleged shooter, who turned one of his guns on himself.
