A man dressed up in a Santa Claus costume shot 4 people at a Halloween party this weekend, authorities say. The party was held privately in Austin and ended in bloodshed. The gun shooter Randall Gaston Jones, a 32-year-old Texas man, was arrested in a neighboring house where he had fled from the party.
As for the victims, four of them were on the floor bleeding from gunshot wounds when the police arrived. According to the party guests, Jones was “highly intoxicated” and refused to go to bed. First, he fired his gun into the floor, alarming the crowd. Then, several gunshots were fired at one of the party attendees as soon as the latter tried to intervene. Shortly after, the victim, later identified as Michael McCloskey, 37, died from his wounds. Moving forward, three other partygoers were also shot, one of them is still in a critical condition. The third victim has already been released from the hospital, while the fourth one had no serious injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene. The suspect was also treated by doctors, however, the police didn’t provide details on his injuries.
As Austin police Detective Lee Knouse claims, “This was not a random act of violence.” In his opinion, Jones knew the victims of the Halloween party.
Currently, Randall Gaston Jones faces charges of aggravated assault and murder, according to police records.
