A Florida mom was kidnapped and murdered by mistake during a murder-for-hire frame, police officials report.
42-year-old Janice Marie Zengotita-Torres was reported missing by her husband in Osceola County, Florida. According to Osceola County Sheriff Russ Gibson, her body was found in Ormond Beach on Monday and later identified as Zengotita-Torres. The investigation into her murder finally revealed that Zengotita-Torres was the target of a murder-for-hire plot by mistake.
35-year-old Ishnar Lopez-Ramos was accused of hiring Alexis Ramos-Rivera, 23, and his girlfriend Glorianmarie Quinones-Montes, 22, to kill the woman who was in a relationship with the same man that she loved.
On the early morning of January 8th, the suspects kidnapped Zengotita-Torres when she was leaving a store in a shopping center and forced her into her own car to drive away. At the ATM, they forced her to give the card and pin number and withdrew all her money. After they robbed her, they realized that they had mistakenly kidnapped the wrong person. This didn’t stop the suspects and they tied her head with zip ties and garbage bags. Ramos-Rivera beat her until she was unconscious. Then they threw her body in Ormond Beach, Florida. The victim could not swim up to survive because the garbage bags were wrapped around her head, not letting her breathe.
Zengotita-Torres had moved to Florida over a year ago from Puerto Rico with her husband, 14-year-old son and her mother.
All of the suspects admitted that it was a murder-for-hire and the victim was kidnapped and murdered by mistake. The three suspects are held in Osceola County jail, facing first-degree murder charges.
