A family doctor in Texas opened fire and killed his neighbors who were trying to help his mother move furniture. The children of the victims witnessed the attack.
Dr. Robert Edward Fadal II, 56, has been arrested for capital murder. He is accused of shooting Tiffany Leann Strait, 30, and her husband, Anthony Ray Strait, 27, in front of their three sons on Friday. The couple lived in the neighborhood and that day they were helping Fadal’s mother move furniture. The incident occurred at the doctor’s gated residence. Strait was pronounced dead at the scene, while his wife was taken to a local hospital where she later died.
Police are investigating the motive of the murder as there was no dispute between them. Authorities say that Fadal suddenly turned on the couple and shot them with a rifle for “no apparent reason”. The couple was helping Fadal’s mother with their truck when Fadal stepped out of the house and started shooting. Mrs. Strait’s three sons, aging from 7 to 10, who her new husband was raising as his own, witnessed the shooting. They are now in the care of relatives.
Fadal was taken to Guadalupe County jail on $2 million bail on Tuesday. He is facing a charge of capital murder of multiple persons. Fadal has been practicing family medicine for 28 years and he is a graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
Anthony Strait’s brother, James Strait, spoke to a local media as he wanted to know why his brother was killed. He hopes that Fadal will meet the same fate as his brother.
