Oregon law enforcement bodies filed charges against a man who is believed to have brutally murdered Sara Zghoul, a 28-year-old woman. The main evidence includes her decapitated and dismembered body, which was concealed in two suitcases. The case were placed in the trunk of a parked BMW in Aloha, Oregon.
Jeremiah Johnston, 35, is taken into custody without bail in the Washington County Jail on two criminal counts - murder and abuse of the corpse. Police are still investigating the motive. Court records show that Johnston used to live in a house owned by his parents close to Zghoul’s residence.
According to investigators, police officers found Johnston in the woods few minutes after he had attempted suicide. He cut his own throat and was attempting to slash his wrists as well when the police approached him. Michael Larsen, one of the residents in the area, told KGW-TV that he called 911 when he heard a man crying for help. He later watched the news and found out that he talked to Zghoul’s murderer from his balcony. Johnston was taken to a hospital for examination.
Investigators do not release the name of the BMW owner but they have established a link between Johnston and the vehicle owner.
Sara Zghoul was an actress and a model. She was a mother of a young boy. Her family and friends gathered to remember and speak about her. One of her closest friends mentioned her as a woman with loving personality and kind-hearted.
Johnston has no attorney yet. However, court records indicate that he has a history of identity theft and both weapon and drug possession. He was sentenced to 2 years in prison in 2015 for distribution of cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine. In September, he pleaded guilty to the charge of cocaine possession the second time and he was allowed to start a treatment program.
