23-year-old woman uses social media to get her ex arrested 8 times

23-year-old Lisa Marie Garcia is facing charges of felony retaliation. The Texas woman has taken social media mastery to a whole new level by manipulating its features and prank call apps to get her ex arrested. Garcia did this 8 times, and all 8 times her ex was arrested by the authorities.

According to the Harris County prosecutors, Garcia sent herself threatening messages from fake social media accounts and used the prank call app to make it seem as if the messages were from her ex-boyfriend, Brandon Berrott.

The calls started since September. Berrott’s attorney Carl Moore said, “She didn’t do it once, she didn’t do it twice, she did it eight different times.” He then continued saying that the defendant was put on house arrest. He also made bond which was a measure to protect the accusers.

Garcia is currently facing a possibility of a 10-year sentence.

Moore didn’t stop there, “I blame the Baytown Police Department as much as anyone for continuing to accept these charges without doing the proper investigation.”

In response to that, the Baytown Police said that when they responded to scared and pregnant Garcia, she showed them the text messages and told them Berrott was going to kill her. Lieutenant Steve Dorris added, “So when we see these threats like this against somebody’s life, we have to take them seriously.”

As a result of the texts and fake calls, Berrott was arrested for making terroristic threats. However, since the fake texts didn’t stop, Berrott was sent to jail for violating the terms of bail, i.e. not contacting “the victim.”

Berrott and Moore are planning to file a civil action against the Baytown Police.
