A 49-year-old Texas attorney, Anthony Buzbee’s date didn’t go as planned. While on a first date with the 29-year-old Lindy Lou Layman in his Houston home this Saturday, the attorney’s collection of Warhol paintings suffered a damage of at least $300,000.
Based on the attorney’s interview with news outlets, the woman got too intoxicated and was asked to leave. However, Layman not only didn’t leave, but she hid in Buzbee’s $14 million mansion, yelling "I'm not leaving." Buzbee tried to call her two Ubers, but the woman was determined to stay.
Buzbee goes on recalling that the woman then started yelling offensive phrases and proceeded to tear artworks from the walls. Some of the artworks that suffered damage were two Andy Warhol paintings, each valued at $500,000.
Additional damage was done to two sculptures - each valued at $20,000 - which Layman threw on the floor, and other artworks she poured red wine over.
In an interview with Texas Lawyer, Buzbee said, “She also pulled a Renoir and a Monet off the wall. Luckily those weren’t damaged.”
Lindy Layman was arrested and charged with criminal mischief on Saturday, right after the date with the attorney. She was then released on a bond of $30,000. It is unknown if Layman is represented by an attorney.
Anthony Buzbee is an art collector and a well-known Texas attorney, who has previously represented former governor Rick Perry. He was also visited by Donald Trump during the latter's candidacy. Last year, Buzbee raised $250,000 for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
This may have been the most expensive date the attorney had or will ever have.
