Mother gets arrested after subjecting healthy son to 323 doctor visits and 13 surgeries

34-year-old Kaylene Bowen-Wright, a Texas woman, was arrested by police officers after her son was hospitalized in Dallas a few days ago. The mother of the 8-year-old boy claimed that her son had seizures and needed immediate attention.

After conducting the required medical examination and research, it turned out that the boy, named Christopher Brown, has had more than three hundred hospital visits and a dozen surgeries in the past years. It was officially reported by the hospital crew that the boy was diagnosed to have “general and full shake” but the doctors were suspicious as there was no evidence of a seizure. This led them to think that the symptoms could have been caused intentionally and they informed Child Protective Services about this matter.

The investigation revealed that Christopher’s medical abuse started when he was 11 years old. Since 2009, Christopher was taken on hospital visits 323 times, he was placed on oxygen full time and was unable to move. Other than this, he suffered from 3 life-threatening blood infections as a result of a feeding tube placed into his small intestine. The medical records revealed that her mother put him in hospice care, and she even put the little boy on a lung transplant list.

Kaylene Bowen-Wright was charged with injury to a child with serious bodily harm, stated by Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. Doctors claim that Christopher did not have any serious injuries and most of the above-mentioned symptoms and treatments were unnecessary and useless.

Ryan Crawford, the child’s father, expressed his displeasure in front of the Dallas County Family Court judges, saying that his son was not sick but no one ever questioned all the surgeries and treatments the boy had.

Luckily, Christopher is gradually getting better. No seizures, no oxygen, no feeding tubes. Officials say that the boy was removed from his mother’s care and temporarily placed in foster care. The father is in the process of getting the custody of Christopher.
